Michael Jackson’s Thriller – A National Treasure

Michael Jackson Thriller Inducted
Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” is going down in U.S. history as a national treasure. The video will has been inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress last Wednesday. It's the first music video named to the registry.

"Because of the way the recording industry is evolving and changing, we thought it would be good to go back to the development of an earlier seismic shift, which was the development of the music video" says Steve Leggett, coordinator of the National Film Preservation Board.

Alongside “Thriller” 24 other films including 1979's "The Muppet Movie", 1957 sci-fi epic "The Incredible Shrinking Man", "Once Upon a Time in the West" (1968), and "Jezebel" (1938), which starred Bette Davis were also inducted.

Movies inducted at the National Film Registry are not selected for how good they are, but for the importance they contributed to U.S. history.

It’s a shame that Michael Jackson isn’t here anymore to witness this amazing honor.

New Jay-Z Video – On To The Next One

Jay-Z On To The Next One
On To The Next One” is Jay-Z’s newest single and video, released last night, very fitting for the switch to the new year and decade. The song was produced by Swizz-Beats and was officially released on Carson Daly’s New Year’s Countdown.

The black and white video has a dark theme, some scary images, but all in all could be considered to be an artistic video. After all, 2009 showed that shocking out of the ordinary videos do work.

Check it out for yourselves, and don’t hesitate to leave your comments.

Rihanna Rocks Abu Dhabi!

Rihanna New Year's Abu Dhabi
I have to say that I’m proud of Rihanna, she performed in Abu Dhabi and was asked to dress more conservately, but it doesn’t seem that she paid much attention for that, and good for her! She should stay who she is and perform however she wants.

The crowd loved it and enjoyed lots of her hits such as “Don’t Stop The Music”, “Hate That I Love You”, “SOS”, and finished off with “Umbrella”.

Watch an HQ version of her performance here!

U2 Tops North American Tour Sales

U2 360 Tour
U2 hasn’t done so well with the sales of their latest album “No Line on the Horizon”, selling 1.06 million copies in the United States. However, their tour was the all time hit of the North American tours for 2009!

The band sold $123 million worth of tickets to its stadium tour, while Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band came in second with $94.5 million.

The band played to 1.3 million people at 20 shows on the North American leg of its world tour, and charged an average of $93.77. The tickets were pretty pricey, but if U2 is one of your favorite band, it sure was worth it.

U2’s 360 Tour will continue this year, dates will be announced soon on their official website.
