Bon Jovi Documentary

Bon Jovi's documentary, "Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful", which is described as a work-in-progress documentary will be the main focus of the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival (Apr. 22 - May. 3).

The movie will screen as the fest's centerpiece presentation on April 29, with another pair of screenings scheduled over the following three days. The documentary celebrates 25 years of the band's impressive career. Besides the music, it also focuses on the relationships between all band members of the past decade. This will be featured in interviews.

Director Griffin has more scoop: “Throughout the process of working with Bon Jovi, I was amazed at the candor and humility Jon and his band showed me. The result is not a neatly wrapped up bundle of staged interviews and musical interludes, but rather a series of open and sometimes difficult conversations, explored against a backdrop of music spanning 25 years. It is a film about the peace of Tico, the complexity of Richie, the drive of Jon and the brutal honesty of Dave. It is their willingness to share their stories that gives us what I hope is a very human story—that humanity is what I believe has seen this band stand the test of time.” (Tribecafilm.com)

Bon Jovi Rocks Central Park!

The eagerly anticipated free Bon Jovi concert attracted an estimated 48,500 people to Central Park yesterday.

The band started off with "Livin' on a Prayer." They played their hits until 10 p.m. with the crowd singing along to "You Give Love a Bad Name" and many others. Jon Bon Jovi crowed about performing in Central Park, "Not too many people have ever done it. What a way to end up. We started 10 nights ago in New Jersey. We end up with the biggest show in New York on the Great Lawn."

A total of 67,500 free tickets (the first 60,000 were quickly snatched up; an extra 7500 were handed out in the past few days) were distributed for the concert, which was meant to help energize residents for Tuesday's Major League Baseball All-Star Game.

Free Bon Jovi Concert!

Jon Bon Jovi is set to give a free concert in Central Park next month, in advance of the upcoming All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium.

City officials have confirmed that they will indeed play a free concert in the park on Saturday, July 12th. Bon Jovi let news about a free concert slip during an interview back in April, but the event wasn't made official until Monday.

"It's really a dream come true and for me the perfect bookend to an incredible tour and in the greatest city in the world, bar none," said Bon Jovi. "This is the center of the universe folks and I've just traveled the globe again. Got home from the UK yesterday and i'll tell ya, loudly and proudly New York is the greatest city in the world."

The show is part of a week of events leading up to the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium on July 15th.

Tickets will be distributed at baseball parks and events throughout the five boroughs starting on Wednesday.

No more than 60,000 tickets will be distributed in an attempt to maintain the safety and integrity of the lawn's grass, Bloomberg said. "Our interest is in keeping the park open and making sure at the same time that we protect the investment the public has made," he said.

Most of the tickets will be available at Yankee Stadium, but some will also be given out at Shea, Keyspan Park in Brooklyn, and Richmond County Bank Ballpark on Staten Island.

Bon Jovi - To Perform Cancer Cure Concerts

Bon Jovi is headlining a concert series to raise funds for lung cancer research — a cause that became personal for the New Jersey rockers after bandmate Richie Sambora's father died of the disease last year.

The group was dedicating the kickoff concert at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan on Tuesday night to the guitarist's father, Adam Sambora. It came days before the opening of the band's "Lost Highway World Tour."

Funds raised during the yearlong concert series will go to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where Sambora's father received treatment.

The series, organized by Stand Up for a Cure, also will feature performances by Jerry Seinfeld, Andrea Bocelli and other artists. Future concert dates have not yet been announced.

The non-profit group also has commissioned three mobile care centers in the New York area, which will be named after the rocker's parents, Adam and Joan Sambora.

According to the National Cancer Institute, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death among both men and women in the U.S., and will kill more people this year than breast, prostate and colorectal cancer combined (source:

Bon Jovi's World Tour!

The Lost Highway tour will reach the UK and Europe next year, and dates for the shows will be announced soon. The band made this announcement during their concert at the Prudential Arena in their hometown of Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday night.

According to British tabloid The Sun, it was the first show at the brand new arena, which is part of a regeneration scheme in Newark that has brought jobs to the area and seen crime drop dramatically. The members of the group were pictured posing with workers at the arena at a sound check earlier in the week.

If you can't wait for Bon Jovi until next year, then here's a clip of their concert in Newark last Thursday, enjoy!

Bon Jovi - It's good that the music "thing" worked out for him ;-)

So is this your country album?
It's almost like my country album.

Are you going to start wearing a cowboy hat?
Didn't I do that in the '80s? At least it wasn't to cover up a bald spot. I was just going to say that. Some of those guys do it for that reason.

Like Dwight Yoakam.

Yeah. And he wore tighter jeans than I did.

Did you have to lie in bed and pull them up?
No, no, no, no. I wasn't the fat guy trying to squeeze into them—I was an emaciated rock star.

You must be the only rock star still married to his high-school sweetheart.
That's not true. There's Bono. I can't even say I'm the only rock star whose name begins with B, or Bo, or even Bon.

Isn't your wife a karate expert? Couldn't she kick your butt?
Probably. But I run faster.

You have four kids—but I haven't seen photos of any of them!

That's right. I'm not a media ...

Whore?

[Laughs] Right. I don't show up at every premiere or walk out of every hotel with the kids. It's my profession, not theirs.

I've noticed over the years that you sometimes have a hairy chest and sometimes it's completely bare.
Cultivating the crops. Grow them and cut them down. And then I sell them.
Where? On eBay? Yeah. You gotta do what you can to make ends meet. Guys buy them, implant them and their wives dig it.

You used to sweep the floor at your cousin's recording studio. Were you a good sweeper?
No! I was never meant to have a real job.

So it's lucky this singing thing panned out. Otherwise, what else would you have done?
Not much. I think I would be asking you if you wanted large fries with that shake. (

Tiger Jam X

Bon Jovi and Tiger Woods celebrated 10 years of Tiger Jam and raised more than $1 Million at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas on Friday May 25 and Saturday May 26th. I know this isn't fresh news, however I just found out about it and thought it would be good to write a post on the event.

Celebrities including Will Ferrell, Kevin James, Chris Tucker, Gabrielle Union and opening act Daughtry joined golf superstar Tiger Woods and music legend Bon Jovi for Tiger Jam X presented by AT&T raising more than $1.5 million for the Tiger Woods Foundation and local charities.

Prior to the show, VIP guests attended the Tiger Jam X reception, which featured a thrilling live and silent auction.

Popular items included a putting lesson with Tiger Woods at the 2007 Target World Challenge that raised $95,000 and a trip to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China garnered $125,000. Other hot items included a "meet and greet" and lunch with Bon Jovi, which sold for $64,000 combined, and a Buick Enclave autographed by Tiger sold for $50,000.

Unique auction items and a sold-out Bon Jovi performance helped raise more than $1.5 million for the Tiger Woods Learning Center (TWLC) and select Las Vegas-based charities.

Here are some pictures of Daughtry live at Tiger Jam X:
