Jessica Simpson's new album, "Do You Know", debuted at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It also secured the No. 4 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart today.

Jessica Simpson covers this September's issue of Elle Magazine.

“I was going through a lot of pain,” Jess tells Elle of the period immediately following her 2005 split from ex-husband Nick Lachey. “I didn’t try anything to change my life other than dating different types of guys and conforming to their worlds. I thought I had to be artsier, more intellectual.”

“Most of the guys I dated were captivated by my heart, but they had different ways of trying to get to me. Tony understands me. He appreciates my talent. He’s the first person I’ve spiritually connected with.”

News on Jessica Simpson's New Album "Do You Know"

Jessica Simpson will release her highly anticipated debut country album, "Do You Know", September 9, 2008 on Columbia Nashville. Produced by Brett James and John Shanks, Simpson co-wrote all but three of the tracks featured on the disc, including her current Top 25 hit single, “Come On Over.”

Simpson is certainly ready to come on over to country music. Recorded in Nashville, TN, this album gives listeners an inside look into the real Jessica Simpson. “Every single song is a piece of my heart … who I am,” comments Simpson. “I’m not what everybody thinks that I am. Believe it or not, I’m a simple country girl. I might buy expensive shoes,” she laughs, “But, I’m definitely a simple country girl and this album will hopefully give people a sense of who Jessica is again.”

Helping share Simpson’s story is none other than country legend Dolly Parton who lends her powerful vocals to the title track, “Do You Know.” Parton wrote this record just for Simpson. “It’s such a great song,” comments Simpson. “I’m so blessed to be able to sing with her on it … she is so much a part of me finding myself as an artist.”

I just saw it, and I'm sure that country fans and Jessica Simpson fans won't be disappointed! Country really fits her! In this video, you see her singing in a white dress in a house (country like), a barn with her band, she's basically embrassing the country theme. Rumors of Tony being in the video were wrong, I didn't see him.

Jessica Simpson has premiered her latest music video for her first country single "Come On Over" on her website - www.jessicasimpson.com today. Jessica's preview to her new video can be seen online only until Monday when it makes its national broadcast premiere on Extra.

The video was shot at Little Creek Ranch in southern California under the direction of Liz Friedlander. "Come On Over" is from Jessica's country debut, "Do You Know?," due out Sept. 9.

Jessica will be hitting the road to play select fairs/festivals.

They also discussed her sister's wedding, her clothing/shoe line, and Tony of course. I agree with the gals from The View, country music really suits Jessica, perhaps more than pop.

Jessica Simpson's Country Album

It's official, Jessica Simpson revealed to Billboard.com that she's in the works to begin recording her debut country album, the 5th official studio record of her career.

"I am a country girl," she says. "I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right."

Jessica's new album will be released sometime in 2008 via Columbia Records. I'll make sure to keep you updated, and if you have any Jessica requests let me know.
