New Joss Stone Album - Colour Me Free

Joss Stone's new album "Colour Me Free" is finally going to see the light of day. It is no secret that Joss and her record label BMI haven't seen eye to eye for quite some time. The new album will be released on October 20th.

"Colour Me Free" was written and recorded in about a week in Devon in early 2008, along with musicians and writers. It was recorded at Mama Stone's—a music venue in Wellington, Somerset, owned by her mother, Wendy Joseph, which also enjoys recording studios and writing facilities—, where Stone also kicked off a promotional tour of concerts in several cities across the United Kingdom, including Bristol, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester, and Dover. Her only U.S. performances to support the release were at the 2009 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, on 18 April and at Club Nokia in Los Angeles on 23 April.

Track listing:

1. Free Me
2. Could Have Been You
3. Parallel Lines feat. Jeff Beck & Sheila E
4. Lady
5. 4 and 20
6. Big Ole Game feat. Raphael Saadiq
7. Governmentalist feat. Nas

Joss Stone at war with EMI

Joss Stone and her record company EMI are officially at war. Her new album "Color Me Free" was supposed to be released this year in April. However, EMI has decided to indefinitely postpone her new album. Joss has asked to leave the company, however they refuse to let her go.

Joss has agreed to perform at a charity gig Rockwell at London's O2 Arena next month (Sep09) as a mark of defiance against EMI officials.

Joss' comments on her record label: "I'll sing some of my new songs. They're just new songs and I love them. They were recorded about two years ago but I have been in a war with my label. I'm just going to sing anyway and if they would like to turn out (release) my album one day that would be nice. I've no idea when it will be released as it's not up to me. Maybe they're trying to shut me up but good luck because they've picked the wrong girl."

Some of the confirmed tracks of "Color Me Free":

"Governmentalist"
"Incredible"
"Free Me"
"Lady"
"Could Have Been You"
"Stalemate"
"4 & 20"
"Parallel Lines"

It's time this talented girl will release her chains from her record label, hopefully she'll manage to do that soon!

New Joss Stone Song - "Governmentalist"

Music2Nite doesn't like to show off any political views, however here's a slight exception. Joss Stone was asked personally by Barack Obama to write and record a song for his presidential campaign, reportedly due to the fact that she appeals across racial boundaries. Her new song titled "Governmentalist" will appear on Joss Stone’s upcoming new album.

Joss Stone - Hides From Record Company For New Album

Joss Stone started recording songs for her next album in secret, to ensure her record label EMI didn't interfere with the direction she wanted to take.

Stone decided to make the bold decision to work in secret after EMI was taken over by Terra Firma. The company had a big shake up of the label, which left some bands - such as Radiohead and The Rolling Stones - quitting.

"I recorded the bulk of my new album in the space of a week in February this year," Stone is quoted as saying. "But it was like a secret - not a secret from the world, but a secret from the record company, because, basically, I didn't want them f*****g with it."

"EMI was going through a lot of change at the time. It's a very long story but there aren't many people left there that I know now."

"I recorded the album at my mum's house in Devon. It was like a building site at the time, so it was just me and a crew in two bare rooms with a mic."

The new album is the follow-up to last year's 'Meet Joss Stone' and will be her fourth album.

Joss Stone - Set To Record Theme Song Of Barack Obama's Campaign

Joss Stone has been aske by Barack Obama's team to record the theme song for his campaing.

Joss is a big supporter of Barack Obama and was very excited to be asked to do this for him," a source told 'The Sun'. "He sent a personal message asking her to get on board. He has always admired her music and thinks she is the perfect choice because of her unique appeal to black and white voters."

“She believes he is going to be the first black American president and she is honoured to be a part of that.”

Barack Obama is also supported by R ’n’ B and hip hop artists Alicia Keys and Jay-Z, who both dedicated songs to him.

Joss Stone - Nude!

Joss Stone has joined a host of other female celebrities to pose nude for the latest - and final - edition of Jane Magazine, Sound Generator can reveal. Pictured tastefully alongside other stars, including Serena Williams and Eva Mendes, the article focuses on female empowerment, and attempts to dispel the 'size zero' culture in favour of a curvaceous look.

"I'm not into wearing clothes at home" Stone reveals in the article, which sees her photographed by Amanda De Cadenet. The 20-year-old also takes the opportunity to criticise her ex-boyfriend for having low self-esteem, which impacted on her own style.

"I didn't wear high-heeled shoes for the longest time," she adds. "I would wear flip-flops because the guy i was with hated that i was tall - and tall can be beautiful! But because he hated it, it made me feel really insecure and i would try and make myself smaller - and that's ridiculous. So now i wear great big f*ck off heels!" The latest Jane Magazine - the final ever edition - is out later this month.
