New Mya Album - Moodring

Amazon is featuring Mya’s third studio album, Moodring, as an Amazon Daily Deal. You can purchase the entire 17 track album for only $1.99. Mya can currently be seen on this seasons Dancing With The Stars.

Mya's third record "Moodring", is full of drama, from the theatrical vocal phrasing to the lush production. There's a pop-R&B approach straight from the playbook of the Jacksons' vintage '80s work, the best balance coming on breezy tracks like "Sophisticated Lady" and "Late."

The album includes: Mya (vocals); Common (rap vocals); Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis (various instruments); Bobby Ross Avila (guitar, Wurlitzer piano, strings); Derek Scott (guitar); Jerry Hey, Gary Grant (horns); DJ Harper, Earl Fleming (keyboards); Alex Al (acoustic & electric basses); Eddie Cole (bass); Steve Ferrone (drums); Luis Conte (percussion); Missy Elliott, Katrina C. Willis (background vocals).

Producers include: Ron Fair, Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis.

Mya leaves Motown Records

Mya recently revealed in an interview with www.starnewsonline.com that she will be leaving her record label Motown Records. Here's a part of the interview:

Q: When is your next album coming out?

A: It will be some time in 2008.

Q: Tell me about your new album?

A: I don’t like to talk about my album until it’s out on the shelves. I’m not giving up too much information, but all I’ll say is I’ll have a series of albums coming out. The album is already recorded.

Q: If the album is already recorded, then what’s the holdup?

A. Every record company is in transition right now so when the record company has to wait for income then the artist has to wait. Sometimes an artist might decide they want to part ways when they don’t want to wait.

Q: Are you planning on leaving your record label?

A: Yes. I’ll be leaving Motown Universal some time next year.

Q: Do you plan on signing with another label?

A: I don’t really want to sign to another label. If you end up funding most of your projects, why not distribute your own product and make 100 percent of your profits?

If artists can finance their own albums, then they should definitely drop their labels, don't you think?

New Mya Video - Ridin

Here's Mya New video for "Ridin", the 2nd Single of her new album "Liberation".

The different effects used in this video are very cool, it resembles some of the R&B videos made in the 90s. I missed that and it's nice to see this in Mya's video, what do you think of it?
