Linkin Park Creates Charity Album For Haiti

Linkin Park put their Haiti charity album within less than a week. The album includes one unreleased track from the band and two other produced by Mike Shinoda. Other tracks on the album include Dave Matthews Band, the All-American Rejects, Peter Gabriel, Slash, Alanis Morissette, and more.

The album is titled "Download To Donate" and can be found on Linkin Park's non-profit site Music For Relief.

"Just last Monday, I was saying how I would like to start directing more of Music For Relief’s attention to Haiti and developing some sustainable housing,” says Linkin Park bassist David “Phoenix” Farrell. “Then the earthquake happened Tuesday, and we really started scrambling to figure out a way that we could garner as much support from the music community as we could to hopefully raise a ton of money for the cause.”

“It’s a very low cost charity,” he says.”For this, 100% of the money Music For Relief raises is going to a couple of different charities: the UN Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. And Dave Matthews Band brought their BAMA Works relief effort into the mix as well. 100% of what we raise is going towards those different efforts.”

New Linkin Park Album Coming Soon

Linkin Park is working on their new album now that Chester Bennington's side project "Dead By Sunrise" is finished and nearing its October 13th release.

The band would like to get to a sound simillar to "Hybrid Theory", but different. The hit single "New Divide" is in no way an indication as to what the new album will sound like.

Here's what Mike Shinoda has to say about the untitled new album:

"We mentally want to get back to [2000's "Hybrid Theory"] not because we want to sound like [that], because I don't think we do," Shinoda says of the forthcoming Linkin Park album, which they aim to release in the first half of 2010. "But we want to make this record a record with identity, hopefully not one you've heard before. One you can listen to and say, 'That's brand new... It's definitely Linkin Park, but it's definitely different.'"

New Linkin Park Album!

Linkin Park, which released its “Minutes To Midnight” after 4 years long break since its “Meteora” in 2003, is planning to release its next album in 2009 and has already started working on a few songs. Sources say that the band doesn’t want to repeat the gap of 4 years again and is wishing to be as consistent as possible.

Mike Shinoda was quoted saying: "Actually I’ve been doing a couple of studio dates out on the road, which is new for me," and that "I did a date when we were touring in Germany, one date in Prague, a bunch of dates in New York, and I’m excited about that. It’s been very cool for us. So long story short, we’ve been putting in a lot of work and hopefully we could have a new record out next year."

The band was committed to their “Projekt Revolution tour”, until August 24 and will now concentrate on their next album.

Linkin Park Covers Guns N' Roses

Linkin Park covered Sweet Child O' Mine from the Guns N' Roses during a show at Alpine Valley last Saturday night. The band came out with fake blond wigs and did an ok job. Surely Guns N' Roses won't be impressed by this cover, however Linkin Park fans will love it and possibly see the humor in it.

New Linkin Park Video - "Leave Out All The Rest"

“Leave Out All the Rest” is the third track and the fifth and final single from Linkin Park’s third studio album, Minutes to Midnight. Even before the song was confirmed as an official single, due to radioplay, the song had achieved a U.S. chart position. On the album, the song segues into “Bleed It Out”.

“Leave Out All the Rest” was one of the names considered for the title of the album along with “In Triumph & Tragedy”, “Triumph in Tragedy”, “In Cold Blood”, “Linkin Park”, “All the Rest”, “Almanac”, “Dictionary”, “Argue. Agree”, “Ascend”, “WTF”, “WTF Is Wrong With Me?”, as well as others, according to the Minutes to Midnight DVD.

Announcement As a Single:
In a Kerrang review/interview of the band, and the album, vocalist Chester Bennington had this say about “Leave Out All the Rest”, “We knew this was going to be a single from the very beginning, so we worked really hard on making sure it had great lyrics. I’m singing ‘Pretending someone else can save me from myself’ during it because it’s supposed to feel like an apology letter, as though I’m moving on but I want people to remember the good things and not the bad things. A lot of the song is about humility.” Mike Shinoda has also stated that Rick Rubin (producer for Minutes to Midnight) said “This sounds like a massive single” and according to Shinoda, was the first to realize the song’s potential as a single.

According to an interview with Mike Shinoda by MTV, “Leave Out All the Rest” will be the next single..

About the Music video:
In an interview with MTV, Mike said that the video, directed by bandmate Joe Hahn, will take place in a futuristic, sci-fi influenced setting, and will depict what the daily life of the band’s members would be like if they lived in outer space. The band lives in a rundown, artificial habitat that’s making its way across the galaxy. At first, they are seen passing the time performing mundane tasks, but then gravity is lost onboard the vessel, sending the members floating about. The video features no performance footage. The video has respectively been influenced by the British movie Sunshine, borrowing imgery and a similar concept.

Joe said:
“We’re explorers in space, just like when we go on tour. We’re leaving our home life behind, and I guess it kind of ties into ‘Leave Out All the Rest’, in that we have to leave things behind in order to do something better. ” (source:

Linkin Park - Going Environmental

LINKIN PARK is making available on the Projekt Revolution tour a limited-edition, 50-page book called "Revolution Unseen: The Hidden Art of Projekt Revolution". The book features artwork by LINKIN PARK members Chester Bennington, Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE's Gerard Way and Ray Toro, and others on the tour. The book is printed on recycled paper, which Bennington said is part of a larger effort by LINKIN PARK to conserve and reuse materials.

"All of our records, any paper product is all printed on this new material that is actually, it's like super-recycled," he said. "Even our inks are environmentally friendly, like, everything we do, we're trying to focus on polluting as little as possible."

Proceeds from the book will go to Music for Relief, to benefit disaster relief and reduce global warming. The Projekt Revolution tour is an environmentally conscious "green" event, with one dollar from each ticket being donated to American Forests for their Global ReLeaf program to plant trees to help reduce global temperatures. The tour's next date is Tuesday (July 31) in Chula Vista, California.

Crazy Linkin Park Stalker

A woman has admitted stalking Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington - using US government computers to obtain his personal information.

Former laboratory worker Devon Townsend accessed the singer’s e-mail account and mobile phone voicemail, intercepting messages and pictures between January and November of 2006.
She also called Bennington’s wife and threatened her, investigators told a court in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Townsend could be jailed or fined heavily when she is sentenced.
In a plea agreement she said that she was able to see the family’s photographs and travel plans, as well as information about a home they had purchased.

She also read messages sent between Linkin Park’s record company and lawyer, and also viewed their recording contract.

Townsend admitted: “On at least one occasion, knowing that Chester Bennington was in Arizona I travelled to Arizona solely for the purpose of trying to see him.

“While I was there, I monitored Chester Bennington’s voicemails as a means of trying to locate where he might be eating.”

It's really bad to see that there are actually people out there like her and that they will harass someone they suposedly "love", I really think it's sick. Enjoy the music of your favorite artists, whoever they are and leave them alone, they have a right to a private life too.

What are your thoughts on this?

Linkin Park - Best Rock Band?

Linkin Park has an impressive showing, may in fact be the biggest rock act in the world…

Hybrid Theory is certified Diamond (10 times Platinum) in the U.S. by the RIAA. It is also the twenty-first century’s highest selling debut album, selling 24 million copies worldwide.

Meteora - 1st week it sold an estimated 810,000 units. 11 million copies worldwide, with more than 5.5 million sold in the U.S. alone.

Minutes to Midnight- topped the Billboard Charts within its debut week, selling nearly 625,000 copies. This record will sell 3 million+.

Never in the history of the music biz has an artist repeat this sales history especially when they do these kind of numbers on one album, not even Metallica, Michael Jackson, and Shania twain…nobody!

What do you think, art they the best rock band???
