Janet Jackson To Headline Essence Music Festival

Janet Jackson will make her only concert appearance of 2010 at this year’s “Essence Music Festival”, on July 4th in New Orleans. It will be the first time that she will perform at the “Essence Music Festival” and her first concert since 2008.

She will also perform on the opening night of the festival, on July 2nd. The official announcement was made today with the release of Janet Jackson’s new song “Nothing” on iTunes.

Essence was the first magazine to feature Janet Jackson on its cover. This year’s festival will surely be as special to Janet as it will be to the organizers and fans. Mary J. Blige, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Earth Wind and Fire, Keri Hilson, Gladys Knight, Raphael Saadiq, and many others will also be part of this year’s festival line up.

New Usher Video - OMG

Usher has released the video “OMG” for his first international single from his new album “Rayond v. Raymond”. The video was directed by Anthony Mandler and features will.i.am.

“The video is a spectacle,” Mandler told Rap-Up.com. “It really emphasizes what we love about Usher and the character and the icon that he is, and most importantly, it’s really a video that showcases his superstardom.”

Usher is also currently promoting his new album “Raymond v. Raymond”, and revealed this morning on Good Morning America that he will be going on tour soon.

 

Jill Scott Covers Essence Magazine

Jill Scott graces the cover of May's Essence magazine, and she has tons to say about living life to the fullest. She also stars with Janet Jackson in Tyler Perry’s new movie “Why Did I Get Married Too?”, and will go on an exciting tour with Maxwell starting May 21st. Another great joy in her life is her son, who she joyfully discusses in Essence.

Jennifer Lopez Signs with Island Def Jam

Jennifer Lopez has signed with L.A. Reid’s Island Def Jam label. Since her split from Sony’s Epic Records rumours were circulating a possible deal between the two, but never confirmed.

During an interview on Jennifer’s “The Back-Up Plan” she was asked whether she was signing with Def Jam and she happily said yes. Reid will not only add her to his famous record label, but will also produce her next album.

“Louboutins” and other singles were so disappointing that her seventh studio album “Love” was never released. Jennifer has produced a lot of poor music lately, let’s hope that this new deal will bring the old “Jenny from the block” back.

Linkin Park Releases New Song Through Mobile Game App

Linkin Park is about to release a new song titled “Blackbird” in a very new creative way. The band will release the song through its mobile game application “Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!”

“Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!” is an action-adventure game in which the goal is to retrieve stolen Linkin Park music. The thieves are called Pixxelkorp, an evil HD empire. Missions take players through different districts which are based on each members of the band.

Linkin Park’s new song “Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!” will be unlocked upon completion of all missions. “In The End”, “New Divide”, and “Crawling” will also feature in the game, it is the first time that a band releases a new song through a mobile game!

“Linkin Park 8-Bit Rebellion!”will be available soon on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad through the iTunes App Store.

Lady Gaga Announces New Album + Thanks Her Fans

Lady Gaga officially announced that she’s already working on her next album and already finished writing the first single of her new album. The news was revealed on her fansite Gagadaily.com

She thanks her fans for the birthday wishes, their support, and that they are the inspiration for her music. Soon, she will reveal the name of her new album, but she doesn’t want to spoil the surprise yet.

New Nelly Furtado Song – Girlfriend in This City

A new song from Nelly Furtado’s upcoming album “Lifestyles”, titled “Girlfriend in This City” has leaked. “Girlfriend in This City” is a pop song, blended with a lot orchestral sound in the background.

Contrary to what was confirmed a few months ago, Timbaland won’t be involved with Nelly’s fifth studio album. Nelly mentioned it herself, and shared the following on  her new album:

“I can say is that its a combination of my other four albums. It has hip-hop, reggae, love songs.”

“Lifestyle” is due to be released on May 25th and includes production from Ryan Tedder, Tiesto, and Salaam Remi.
