Music2Nite Recommends Amy Macdonald!

Amy Macdonald's debut album "This Is The Life" will be available in stores in the U.S on August 19th!!!

Music2Nite's Review of Amy Macdonald - "This Is The Life":

Amy Macdonald is barely 20, musical maturity is truly unbelievable. Her music ranges from accoustic guitar, folk, to rock, all mixed together with a beautiful Scottish accent. Her main influences are Travis and The Libertines.

The songs on her new album "This Is The Life" are rich, dark, and remiscent of a younger Sheryl Crow. Basically Amy sings about life, how she feels about it, and how she uses it as an escape, while still remaining realistic. She also sings about today's youth in "Youth Of Today", and celebrities in "Footballer's Wife". These songs show how Amy is eager to speak her mind about how the young generations are misunderstood, and the latter how she thinks celebrities are not more special than anyone else.

Throughout the album you feel how much Amy was born to make music, it comes so naturally to her, and she shows it so well in all her songs. "Let's Start A Band" and "Barrowland Ballroom" both show dreams of making it in the music industry, appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and perform at "The Barrowlands" which is a legendary venue in the East end of Glasgow.

Amy Macdonald is starting out with a powerful debut album, which will surely do well in the U.S. She's a true artist at heart and it won't go unnoticed.

"This Is The Life" - international performance:

This Is The Life began moving up the British chart soon after its initial release in July 2007. The album reached Number One on January 13, 2008, knocking Radiohead's In Rainbows out of the top slot. To date, This Is The Life has sold more than 700,000 copies in the UK (double platinum) and over one million worldwide, mak¬ing Amy Macdonald the biggest-selling female British artist to emerge last year. Thus far, her album has reached Number One in the UK, Switzerland, Denmark and the Netherlands and cracked the Top 20 in Germany, Ireland, Austria, Belgium and Greece.

Back in the USA, the excitement has proven contagious. In April 2008, Amy arrived in the States for debut club appearances in Boston and New York. Her 4/28 performance at Great Scott in Boston prompted The Boston Globe to hail Amy Macdonald as "a 20-year-old lass with a guitar, a strong will, thick eyeliner, and a voice that snaps you to attention. We give her a year before she's headlining the Orpheum [Theater]."
